Fenerbahce have a 10 day deadline to sign a defensive midfielder with Vinicius Souza one of three named candidates.

Celtic have been linked with the Brazilian who is registered with Lommel but highly unlikely to be playing in the Belgian Second Division in the new season.

Souza made a big impact on loan at Mechelen last season with his future in the hands of the City Football group with his Lommel contract running until June 2025.

Covering Fenerbahce’s options, Gazetevatan reports:

On the other hand, last 10 days to notify UEFA of the Dynamo Kyiv match squad. The management is working hard to train at least one more transfer.

Due to the injuries experienced, the midfield reinforcement came to the fore. Work continues at full speed for William Carvalho, Sergio Oliveira and Vinicius Souza.

With Fenerbahce setting a deadline and Celtic back in pre-season training it seems like a decision time for Souza isn’t far away.

Ajax and PSV Eindhoven have also been linked with the 23-year-old. Playing in the SPFL wouldn’t be the normal pathway for a Brazilian looking to make it into one of the top five European leagues but the incentive of the Champions League and the reputation of Ange Postecoglou inside the City Football Group could be a deciding factor.

NOTE: Fenerbahce play Dinamo Kiev on July 20, two wildcard signings can be added to their squad by July 18 although it is far from ideal to throw a new signing into a Champions League qualifier within 48 hours of joining.
