Andy Walker has opened up on the media role that often sees him under attack.
The former Celtic striker is a regular on Sky Sports, often appearing alongside Kris Boyd with heavy criticism almost inevitable from social media.
In May of last year it was reported that Walker was banned by the two Glasgow Premiership clubs but last season he was back co-commentating and giving opinions from Ibrox and Celtic Park.
Tomorrow Walker is expected to be on duty at the Kilmarnock v Celtic match, discussing his current role he told The Celtic Way:
I am aware that there is a divided opinion of myself on social media. In my job now there are two teams on the pitch and I don’t care what strip you are wearing.
I am going to give teams credit when they play well and criticism if they don’t. I am not interested in being a cheerleader. That is the job I do now and I really enjoy it and I am fairly relaxed about that.
I have to say that anytime I meet a Celtic supporter I am greeted warmly which is great.
Walker enjoyed two spells with Celtic with his best season coming in 1987/88 when he was top scorer in the Centenary Season.
When his playing days ended he moved straight into media work, as well as his SPFL work he is often on duty on a Saturday providing match updates for Soccer Saturday.
