Lou Macari brought MUTV brilliantly to life as he discussed the potential signing of Adrien Rabiot. The former Celtic manager isn’t impressed!

Club TV is much the same the world over, stick to safe ground, talk everything up, the garden is rosy and the future even brighter.

The half six or seven years at United have been grim, the clubs accelerated demise has coincided with Liverpool and Manchester City sharing the honours.

Various managers, systems and plans have been tried, Erik Ten Hag is the third manager in 12 months but when your season starts with a home defeat from Brighton it is hard to sugar coat things and talk up a challenge for trophies.

Macari has been a long term fixture on MUTV but asked about Rabiot he could no longer toe the party line.

I’d never really heard of him. 32 league games last season, no goals. Other qualities? I’m not sure I see them. It is about the black and white. Clubs spend millions of pounds scouting players across Europe, but nobody else has made a move for this fella. Monaco (who are also interested in Rabiot) is good for going on holiday. But what’s the football team ever done? So for them to be interested in him, means nothing. None of the other English clubs are in for him. Why do you think this is? I have got a bad feeling about the guy.

Rabiot was part of the team who trounced Celtic in the ECL, home and away. Celtic couldn’t get near the ball that home game and Rabiot was one of the reasons for it! He’s under thirty, he’s got top level experience, he’s available relatively cheap. Why wouldn’t you want him? Maybe MU are just more mixed-up than they know!

MU racked up debt like there was no tomorrow. Half a billion punts is a big bet, I mean debt, even for the second Club in Britain to win the European Cup! I’d never have let Ferguson near my Club! Clearly not his own man, he brought a lot of baggage with him – and he left most of it there when he left. Debt wise, Clubs that go heavily into debt aren’t too worried about when they will pay it back! But when reality hits, as it always does, they may have to tighten their belts considerably!
