Celtic are reported to have put in a bid to sign Cameron Bruce from Queens Park.

The 16-year-old has come through the ranks with the Spiders who now have a professional set up with their first team thriving in The Championship with Owen Coyle in charge.

Queens Park are under no pressure to sell anyone with the club looking to develop their own players through into full internationalists just as Andy Robertson and Lawrence Shankland have achieved elsewhere.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC and Rangers are in a tug of war for Queen’s Park starlet Cameron Bruce who is fast becoming one of the most wanted prospects in the country.

SunSport understands both clubs have had bids rejected for the 16-year-old who made his first team debut in March as a sub before a full debut the following week.

Left-back Bruce – given a two year pro contract three months ago by the Championship Spiders – is also being tracked by major Premier League outfits down south.

But it’s understood the club has no intention of cashing in with the Glasgow-born Scotland youth ace having worked his way through the ranks ever since joining at under-nine level.

Celtic can offer Bruce the incentive of playing in the UEFA Youth League but other than that the pathway is far from clear to first team football.

At the weekend Celtic striker sent Johnny Kenny on loan to Queens Park which would suggest that the Championship side have a better platform for developing players.

The Lowland League provides competitive fixtures for Celtic’s younger players but almost certainly they will have to get games at a higher level to advance their claims for a place in the first team squad.
