Respected French publisher l’Equipe are reporting that Chris Jullien is scheduled to undergo a medical with Montpellier tomorrow.

The defender has a year left on his Celtic contract but has yet to make the bench for any of the four SPFL matches to date with the arrival of Moritz Jenz on loan from Lorient pushing him further down the queue for a game.

After suffering knee damage in the final match of 2020 Jullien missed the whole of 2021, under Ange Postecoglou he has only played in 20 minutes of a Scottish Cup tie against Raith Rovers.

Transfers: Christopher Jullien almost in Montpellier The French central defender of Celtic Glasgow should arrive this Tuesday in Montpellier for his medical examination. It will be important because he has not played for a year and a half

Before Celtic’s pre-season tour to Austria and Slovakia Jullien flew out to discuss a move to Schalke but returned with no reported follow up from the German club.

Having cost Celtic £7m when he joined from Toulouse in 2019 Jullien will be one of the highest earners at the club, agreeing personal terms on a return to France will probably be the toughest obstacle to overcome for Montpellier.

What nonsense! Jullien was never a misfit! He was unfortunate enough to sustain a long term injury, making him unavailable for over a full year. He has been unable to oust the men in possession right now so feels he best move.
But to call Jullien a misfit is not only wrong, it is infantile and ignorant.

Editor: He is a misfit under Ange, not made the bench in four games this season, 20 minutes v Raith last season despite being ft and available from January.

      You beat me to that.
As well as that he sustained the injury colliding with the goal post clearing the ball on the goal line.
      Some more respect please.

    MISFIT!!!!
    Absolutely disgusting statement!!!

My honest opinion is the guy is not and should never have become a professional footballer. He is in the wrong trade. He never made it at Celtic nor his last club either. So “Misfit” is entirely correct. Injuries are his responsibility.

But I don’t blame Jullien. I blame the guy(s) that brought him to Celtic, Lawwell and Lennon. They never did their homework on him before they bought him or they would have seen that it was a gamble that was set at very long odds. And they stuck seven million pounds on it.

Don’t forget, they were also the main players in our Club losing the “Ten” to a defunct Club. They were incompetent about their business and they are responsible for buying Jullien. Do you think it bothers Jullien what Celtic fans think of him? He made a very nice living off of our Club when people around us are choosing between food and heating their homes!

P.s. Ed you didn’t mention he was a misfit under Ange! Even so it’s in poor taste.
