Despite rumours of interest from Celtic, Jordan Larsson appears to be close to joining Schalke.
With Giorgos Giakoumakis and Kyogo Furuhashi competing for one place in Ange Postecoglou’s side it would be difficult to justify a major wage being paid to another striker.
Larsson’s career kicked on spectacularly when he moved to Spartak Moscow but following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine football has stalled with most imports opting to quit rather than stay around with only domestic football available.
UPDATE: Swedish forward Jordan Larsson is due to arrive in Germany tomorrow for talks with Schalke.
It’s understood both parties are still some distance apart on wages and length of contract.
A fair bit to be negotiated before this is done.

Ange Postecoglou is still active in the transfer market but another top striker is unlikely to be a priority. If Kyogo and Giakoumakis were both unavailable the Celtic boss has the option to play Daizen Maeda or Liel Abada through the centre.
At the age of 25 Larsson is bound to be linked with Celtic in the future but this month it looks likely that he’ll be playing in the Bundesliga for Schalke.
