Michael Gannon of the Daily Record has suggested that Ange Postecoglou prioritises Dundee United ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid in the Bernabeu.

As most fans and almost all reporters know the Celtic boss treats every game as an opportunity to test his side, push them to the maximum of their ability with a clash against the current champions of Europe the ultimate test.

With all respect to Liam Fox Ange won’t be taking Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley and Cameron Carter-Vickers aside on Wednesday afternoon to keep them fresh for Saturday’s visit from the side at the bottom of the SPFL Premiership.

This morning the Daily Record reports:

How does Ange Postecoglou approach this week’s Champions League dead rubber against Real Madrid?

MICHAEL: He should wrap his main men in cotton wool for Dundee United at the weekend but it’s doubtful he will. Postecoglou will want to finish the group on their terms and will go out and attempt to pull off a morale-boosting win.

With Jota making a scoring return away to Livingston yesterday Callum McGregor is the only significant absentee from the Celtic squad. Carl Starfelt and Stephen Welsh have resumed training but missed out on yesterday’s win.

As Postecoglou gears up for another transfer window and aims for a return to next season’s Champions League he will want all of his big hitters to have measured themselves against Carlo Ancelotti’s superstars.

In August Celtic won 9-0 away to Dundee United, a result that cost Jack Ross his job. On Saturday United lost 1-0 at home to Motherwell.

What a dipstick , this is why he writes and doesn’t play/manage football.

I get the distinct impression from the Record ‘ s army of sports employees ,that Real Madrid are on a ‘going ‘ night ,and Celtic come a severe cropper ! Don’t think for a nano second that the national newspaper title ,shall be behind one of its own clubs in Spain ! By the way ,Mick Gannon is an alleged Record Celtic reporter ! I know ,know , dear oh dear ……..
