Ange Postecoglou was in typically mischievous mood following Celtic’s 4-0 win over Motherwell in the League Cup.

Up until the weekend there had been some excited speculation that Celtic had gone off the boil but while the Champions League is a very obvious step up 10 goals in two domestic matches suggests that the hoops are anything but a spent force.

Liel Abada hoisted his goal tally for the season to eight with a double tonight, the sort of return that any striker would be happy with in October.

The Israeli has the capacity to score any sort of goal but his opener tonight was all about anticipation as he made a driving run deep into the Motherwell goalmouth in anticipation of a cut-back.

Part of that is down to instinct, a lot is down to hours on the training ground taking on board the instruction of coaches who have seen and done it all down the years.

The Express reports:

When asked if Abada’s ability is something that can be coached, Postecoglou told Premier Sports: “I hope so mate or I may as well not be here. We try and help him but he’s a great kid. He wants to learn and improve and there are still areas he can improve that’s the reality of it.

“He took his goals very well today and should have had a hat-trick in the end. It’s really important again for the guys to come in and do a good job for us. It’s a busy period for us and I’m rotating the squad a fair bit but the pleasing thing for me is the performances are staying constant.”

Later tonight Celtic will find out their semi-final opponents.
