Ange Postecoglou playfully opened up on some off-mic comments from the presentation team of Premier Sports.

Rory Hamilton was assisted on commentary by Michael Stewart with Chris Sutton and Steven Craigan pitchside with Connie McLaughlin.

Pre-match, on camera, Sutton questioned playing Ben Siegrist ahead of Joe Hart while speculating over Kyogo Furuhashi suffering from a lack of confidence.

Both were very valid points, well worth discussing and issues that Celtic fans would have been discussing once the team had been announced.

Football Scotland reports:

Speaking with Rory Hamilton the lead commentator and presenter asked if the Australian was content with the victory but, before kicking off with his thoughts, Postecoglou hinted that Hamilton had spoken badly about his co-comms and Hoops hero Sutton.

“Shall I tell Chris what you were saying about him or let it run? Okay,” the manager chuckled.

“Yeah, it was pleasing. In cup games like I’ve said before there’s always a bit of an edge because the opposition have nothing to lose. I thought Motherwell set up to be aggressive and we should’ve put the game to bed earlier but the standard of the goals was good.”

While having a few issues with the ball at his feet in the second half Siegrist kept a clean sheet, something that Celtic haven’t achieved since the Glasgow derby on September 3.

Given a seat on the bench Hart will have been given a breather ahead of the demanding run of games which covers Hearts, Shakhtar Donetsk, Livingston and Real Madrid.

Kyogo’s confidence wouldn’t have been helped by a few near misses in the first half but in the 75th minute he showed a striker’s instinct to pop home the rebound after a shot from Liel Abada came off the post.
