Before today’s match against Hibs there was a very emotional moment when Frank McGarvey was introduced to the fans.
Last week it was announced that the striker had cancer with a visit to Celtic Park quickly arranged.
From 1980 to 1985 McGarvey gave Celtic incredible service with his first goal a last gasp winner in a Glasgow derby with his final strike winning the 100th Scottish Cup Final against Dundee United.

Alongside players like Tommy Burns, Roy Aitken, Davie Provan, Murdo MacLeod and Paul McStay, McGarvey gave more than 100% every week for a Celtic side that never quite delivered the trophy haul that their ability merited.
At that time Aberdeen won the Cup Winners Cup with Dundee United European Cup semi-finalists. During his five years at Celtic McGarvey twice won the Premier Division, twice won the Scottish Cup and added one League Cup medal.
In a golden era of strikers he played alongside Charlie Nicholas, George McCluskey and Brian McClair.
