After shamelessly touting himself for the manager’s job at Ibrox Michael Beale is the bookies favourite to take over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The current QPR boss has a total of 22 matches in management, winning 9, drawing 5 and losing 8 since taking over from Mark Warburton in the summer. QPR have taken one point from their last five matches, coinciding with Beale’s PR trip to Ibrox.
That hasn’t deterred the 42-year-old who returned to Ibrox recently to watch the win over Aberdeen, making sure that he was pictured in the Loudon Tavern and Grapes Bar before hugging players in the Ibrox Directors Box.
Beale is credited with being the brains behind Steven Gerrard’s management team that won one trophy in nine attempts, a third of the success rate of the now departed van Bronckhorst.
Picking up on the activity from the bookies, The Sun reports:
RANGERS are on the hunt for a new manager after the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst – with former coach Michael Beale now the favourite.
The Dutchman’s reign was confirmed as over by the Ibrox club on Monday morning with “recent results not meeting the expectations”.
He was in charge for just over a year and led the club to a Scottish Cup triumph, Europa League final and Champions League qualification for the first time in 12 years.
GVB took over from Steven Gerrard last year, with the Scouse boss leaving for Aston Villa.
A sensational return to Ibrox for Gerrard looked to be on the cards when he opened as the bookies’ favourite.
But he is now out to 14/1 and it’s now his former coach Beale who has emerged as the frontrunner, with his price now 6/4 with SkyBet.
With the transfer surplus from the summer used to pay off van Bronckhorst it looks like the next manager will be required to be very imaginative during the January transfer window.

Lol once again the sevco klub and board playing to the crowd touting Ian Beale from Eastenders and his fresh fruit and veg stall to take over from Gio Fanny.
What a snake that guy is sniffing about the place when Gio Fanny was still the manager, that should be a warning to the fruit and veg man about how they treat managers when things ain’t going their way.
Should he get the gig and fall further behind in the league I dare say Martinjail will be an invited guest to ibrox a couple games before Ian Beale is given his P45.
