Ange Postecoglou has given a non-committal response to speculation that Cho Gue-Sung is on his way to joining Celtic.

The South Korean striker made a big impact at the World Cup Finals in Qatar and is expected to follow that up with a move to Europe.

Postecoglou signed Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis in his first transfer window at Celtic but has concentrated his signings in other areas over the two windows in 2022.

The Celtic manager has a strong reputation across Asia with Ki Sung Yeung putting Celtic on the map across South Korea a decade ago.

Although registrations can’t be made until January 1 the announcement of a signing can be made at any stage.

The Sun reports:

Work to add more players is continuing behind the scenes, with a new striker a priority.

South Korean World Cup star Cho Gue-Sung is understood to be on the wish-list, but Postecoglou is keeping his cards close to his chest.

He added: “Who’s that? No, like I just said we are working on a few things.

If and when they get done, you’ll hear about them. But right now we are not sort-of close enough to think that we need to say anything. That may change soon.”

Should Celtic push SFA for transparency by publishing VAR reports?

It is unclear how long Glu-Sung is under contract with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors for but turning 25 next month, following his impact at the World Cup Finals a move to Europe would seem likely.
