Image for Athens of the North appeals to ‘unhappy Celt’

For someone apparently unhappy with the terms of their contract Giorgos Giakoumakis seems to be coping, putting on a brave face.

Almost two weeks ago a story surfaced that the striker could be leaving in January because promises made around his contract hadn’t developed as he had hoped.

Only the player who signed the deal and the agent that negotiated it will know the truth and detail of that claim but with a contract running through until May 2026 it seems that Celtic will dictate how the issue evolves in January.

On the park Giakoumakis has continued to deliver the goals and 100% commitment that makes him a strong contender as Celtic’s most influential player of the calendar year.

Away from Celtic Park and Lennoxtown the image below suggests that life in Scotland isn’t too bad for the striker and his family. Scotland doesn’t have the weather of his Crete childhood but there are a few compensations with the Athens of the North an hour’s drive along the M8 providing one of Europe’s top tourist attractions.
