Josip Juranovic has ruled out any transfer talk as he prepares for Tuesday’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina.

The defender has been a key part of the Croatia side that has beaten Japan and Brazil on penalties to book their place in the last four of the World Cup Finals.

While Juranovic has been on duty in Qatar, Celtic have signed Alistair Johnston, making it three international right-backs at the club.

Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad have both been linked with January bids for Juranovic but for now the defender has his focus firmly on Argentina and a place in the World Cup Final.

Responding to transfer talk, The Sun reports the Celtic defender saying:

Honestly, I haven’t read what was written since we arrived at the World Cup.

We’re just focused on the national team, I even told my agent not to send me anything, I’m not interested at all right now.

I want to do something for myself, my future sons and daughters, I want to tell them the story of what we did and to be proud.

With a contract that runs until May 2026 Celtic are in no rush to sell Juranovic but in the current circumstances it would be a surprise if he is still in Scotland when February comes around.

Celtic paid Legia Warsaw around £2.5m when they signed the defender in August 2021 with the Polish side likely to have a sell on clause in the deal.
