Ross Wilson will need to come up with at least £2m if he is to bring Todd Cantwell to Ibrox this month.

Last week Micky Beale spent time staring into the eyes of contracted players that he wants to sign with the Norwich midfielder believed to be one of his targets.

After the win over Dundee United on Sunday Beale went into great detail about what a wonderful player Cantwell is and how his career maybe needs a move.

Unfortunately for the Ibrox side Norwich turned down a £1.5m bid from Blackburn for the 24-year-old who hasn’t played since November 12.

After splashing out on Ridvan Yilmaz, Ben Davies and Rabbi Matondo during the summer then paying off Giovanni van Bronckhorst the Ibrox transfer war-chest is on the light side with Wilson tasked with bringing in the stars needed for the Beale Revolution.

The Sun reports:

BLACKBURN are the English Championship club who have had a bid rejected for Rangers target Todd Cantwell.

Norwich are willing to listen to offers for the 24-year old who is out of contract at the end of the season.

SunSport exclusively revealed last week that Cantwell was on Rangers’ transfer radar as Michael Beale looks to put his own stamp on the Ibrox squad.

But there’s interest elsewhere and Blackburn have made their move. However, Rovers’ offer of around £1.5million has been rejected by Championship rivals Norwich.

Beale clearly had an expectation to have at least one player arriving at Murray Park this week but it seems like Wilson has drawn a blank.

With Kemar Roofe and John Lundstram setting the benchmark for Ibrox salaries Cantwell won’t be selling himself short when he can pick up a signing on fee and agree his own terms as a free agent during the summer.
