Celtic are reported to have turned down a bid from Dundee United to take Stephen Welsh on loan.

The defender appears to be caught in a Catch 22 situation of needing to get games to develop his career but being required at Celtic as cover.

Ange Postecoglou had his first choice defensive pairing back in action away to Dundee United on Sunday, last season that duo played every minute together in the final 18 SPFL matches of the season.

The initial report appeared in The Courier.

With Carter-Vickers recently out injured Yuki Kobayashi was brought in to partner Starfelt, as a naturally left-sided defender the former Vissel Kobe man is the only defender natural on that side of the park.

Yesterday Sheffield Wednesday were credited with an interest in Welsh but it seems that he will remain at Celtic through the transfer window despite clear interest from Scotland and England.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Gutted by this, and failure too to move on McCarthy and Ideguchi. These wages could have kept Giakoumakis and maybe even Juranovic. Who signed McCarthy? Why does no one want to buy Barkas Ajeti or Soro? Our wages are too high for squad players
