Inverness Caley Thistle have made an enquiry about taking Joey Dawson on loan from Celtic.

The former Scunthorpe kid was signed in July 2021 to bolster Celtic’s options for the Lowland League and had a decent return in his opening season- making one substitute appearance for the first team at St Johnstone on December 26 when Ange Postecoglou’s squad was decimated due to self-isolation.

This season Dawson has been in and out of the Lowland League side but came off the bench in Friday’s Glasgow derby to score two stoppage time goals.

Inverness boss Billy Dodds has had to dig deep into his youth side to fill the bench over the last month with the transfer window giving him the chance to get some depth to his squad.

Football Scotland reports:

Celtic teen Joey Dawson is a January loan target for Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The 19-year-old striker has impressed for the Hoops’ B team in the Lowland League with nine goals from 11 appearances but has still perhaps not featured as often as he’d have liked. Football Scotland understands Inverness have enquired about the player and whether or not the Hoops would be willing to sanction a loan switch for the remainder of the campaign.

Dawson wasn’t included in the Celtic squad that played in the UEFA Youth League, prior to joining Celtic he made one substitute appearance for Scunthorpe in a League Cup tie against Derby County. English sides Carlisle and Crewe are also reported to be interested in the striker.
