Anyone taking a look at the newspaper previews of tomorrow’s Glasgow derby will no doubt have noted that Micky Beale once coached in Brazil.

With no playing career of any note the former QPR boss has been desperate to bulk up his CV which involved just 22 matches in front line management before he moved to Ibrox in November.

Coaching in Brazil sounds impressive but like most of his big statements the substance doesn’t quite add up, Beale’s time as a Number 2 in Brazil lasted six months, from January to July 2017 as his Linkedin profile confirms.

During that brief spell he seems to have learned everything that there is to know about Brazilian football, apparently he speaks fluent Portuguese among his other languages.

Asked about the 710 tickets that Celtic fans will have for Ibrox tomorrow Beale told the Daily Record:

When I went to Brazil, they weren’t arguing about 700 away tickets. Away fans weren’t allowed to go to derby games due to crowd violence. If you’re Sao Paulo and you play Corinthians, there are no away fans. It’s the same if you go to play Palmeiras or Santos and vice versa.

Beale lasted just 13 matches as assistant to Rogerio Ceni at Sao Paulo during which time they had a record of 3 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats. A spell that lasted 183 days.

Pedro Caixinha is looked on as a joke figure in Scottish football, remembered for painting slogans around the tunnel area at Ibrox, banning green boots and media conferences that discussed barking dogs and caravans.

As manager at Ibrox Caixinha recorded 14 wins, 5 draws and 7 defeats over his 229 days in charge.

Tomorrow the world’s greatest coach will get the opportunity to put in place against Celtic the lessons learned putting out the cones and bibs during his 183 days stint in Brazilian football.

The reasons are quite different. The Ibrox board unilaterally made the decision in their own interests, to disadvantage a team they feared and to hell with everybody else. They ban tv commentators they don’t like. Of course they rarely behave but that wasn’t their reasoning.
