‘Considerable amount of work to be done’ Truth bomb drops over Ibrox transfer troubles

Ibrox fans are gently being prepared for a month of frustration in the transfer market.

After their failure to beat a below par Celtic side they were thrown the good news that Micky Beale had spent his week looking deep into the eyes of prospective transfer market.

Being a people person the former QPR boss wanted to establish if the contracted players identified had the special qualities needed to fit in alongside James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and the established core of the side built in 2018.

There is a considerable amount of work to be done to make a deal happen— there is a lot which still has to align, said a Rangers source yesterday — but Cantwell is very much a live target for Michael Beale whereas Tom Davies of Everton is less likely.

Yeah, a transfer fee, signing on fee and bumper contract to match John Lundstram’s deal does require considerable work when your summer transfer profit was used to pay off the previous management team.

More transfer spin is expected when Beale meets the media today with news of a fresh injury set-back likely. Over the last 10 days Tom Lawrence has been sent to a specialist for a scan with Antonio Colak lasting just 45 minutes away to Dundee United.
