Brian Laudrup has delivered a blunt observation on the first 30 minutes of Monday’s Glasgow derby.
Ange Postecoglou’s side dominated possession, found their passes and toyed with their hosts in front of a near silent home support.
Celtic only had a Daizen Maeda goal to show for their superiority with Laudrup blown away by what he was witnessing.
Writing in the Daily Mail, the Dane admitted:
For the first 30 minutes at Ibrox, it was like a Ferrari against a Volkswagen in terms of speed and power. As the home team, Rangers only had something like 35-per-cent possession.
But it seemed the keys to the Ferrari were handed over to Beale at half-time. When Rangers have the belief they showed in the second period, they are not that far away from Celtic.
Greg Taylor’s injury coupled by a moment of madness from Joe Hart transformed the match.
The Celtic goalkeeper managed to touch Ryan Kent’s shot onto the post, a World Cup semi-finalist replaced Taylor but Celtic didn’t look the same as the side that had dominated.
Ten minutes into the second half the match had been turned around with the home side in front and looking like cutting the gap at the top down to six points.
Kyogo Furuhashi had the final say, his 88th minute equaliser saved the day with Postecoglou’s side motoring towards a second successive SPFL title.
More like the Ferrari v Reliant Robin.
