A short story about the Champions League…

Perspective has never been a quality in abundance around Ibrox.

Fighting that overwhelming inferiority complex is a tiring business, especially for bears that have lived through two 9-in-a-rows with the memories of a Quadruple Treble still fresh and raw.

Even after losing 4-0 to Celtic in September some bears started gloating at Celtic’s defeat to the current holders on the Champions League. Reality revisited them the following day in Amsterdam when their Europa League heroes tried mixing it in UEFA’s top tournament.

That 4-0 defeat to Ajax was the first of six hammerings dished out including a 7-1 home defeat to the worst Liverpool team to play in the Champions League.

At Anfield on Tuesday it took Real Madrid half an hour to get their bearings, by full time they had hammered Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Last night RB Leipzig matched Manchester City on home soil, the German side can’t be discounted from going through at the Etihad.

Meanwhile straw-clutching bears are still looking at a nine point gap in the SPFL despite the miraculous impact of Micky Beale on the training ground.

Aye but remember as the pundits keep pushing sevco have matched us point for point since Beale stole the job of Gio Fanny, though no mention of how wide the goal difference seems to get further apart in each game,if only they could play Dunfermline every week eh.
