Neil McCann has warned Ange Postecoglou that his side will be up against treble chasers at Hampden on Sunday.

Celtic are firm favourites to win the Premiership title but even with a nine point lead and a goal difference advantage of 26 the former Dundee boss believes that there is still life in the title race.

Postecoglou’s side have won 24 out of 26 matches in the SPFL as well as five out of five in domestic cup competitions but McCann believes that Sunday’s match will be a clash of equals.

Speaking with Steven Thompson and James McFadden on BBC Scotland, McCann said:

It’s going to be a cracking cup final. Since Mick Beale took over at Rangers, he’s had a cracking run of results but maybe performances haven’t been at the top level that he thinks they’re capable of.

They’ve been enough to be comparable to Celtic, which is a feat in itself. It proves to be a brilliant game and it will give Mick Beale an idea of where his team are at.

I don’t think he’s ruled out the league title just yet, the treble is still on the go and this is a huge cup final for different reasons for Mick Beale.

McCann recently attracted criticism from Ibrox fans for his comments about the celebrations of Alfredo Morelos away to Hearts at Tynecastle.

In the previous Glasgow derbies this season Celtic won 4-0 at home in September before drawing 2-2 at Ibrox in January.

How can anyone take any notice of a failed tax cheat , failed manager, him and all his kind should stop giving opinions about what they could not do.

Eejit. The last Rangers (oldco) side to win a treble wasn’t even in the 21st century.

    • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Better to be referring to them as ‘OLD-CLUB’ Charles as 1) They hate that… and 2) The media use old-co so we always need to correct the said media imbeciles !

  • bertie basset says:

there is no doubt that we will be cheated on sunday , the fact that the two referees are rangers fans and one an employee , they have put the two together to half the blame and embolden the pair to err on sevcos side , we all know whats coming , but what are we going to do about it ?

  • Michael McCann says:

McCann is full of bullshit, he’s team, Penalty F C is in that great position as a result of the referees, nothing else. Because he and the other media pundits will not call it for what it is, it’s cheating. It’s ridiculously obvious, the very fact that Tavpen has scored so many goals. Plus the fact that each opposing team goes a man down during the games against them. These bigots and cheats must be called out
