The Giorgos Giakoumakis transfer saga appears to be nearing an end with Fabrizio Romano tweeting that the striker is on route to Mexico to undergo a medical ahead of signing for Atlanta United.
It was expected that business would have been concluded last week but the MLS transfer window extends until April 24 with the season starting on February 26.
Giakoumakis has missed Celtic’s last four matches, on Friday Ange Postecoglou said that the former VVV Venlo striker wasn’t om his radar as the door closed on an unlikely Celtic reprieve.

Unlike in previous times Celtic already have a replacement in the door with Oh Hyeon gyu making two appearances off the bench
There isn’t much financial benefit in the purchase and sale of Giakoumakis once VVV Venlo get a cut of the transfer fee but over the course of 2022 Giakoumakis delivered some vital goals with Celtic winning all but four matches with three draws and defeats while their Greek striker was involved.
