Despite signing two outstanding midfielders during the January transfer window The Scotsman is eagerly reporting another star arrival at Ibrox (Darius Olaru of Romanian giants FCSB).

Micky Beale looked deeply into the eyes of Todd Cantwell before snapping up the former England prospect for an undisclosed fee with Nicolas Raskin going through the same process before his move from Standard Liege.

With Ianis Hagi making his comeback from injury while Beale can already call on John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, James Sands, Glen Kamara, Malik Tillman, Scott Arfield and Alex Lowry midfield is an area already taking up plenty of the wage bill. Steve Davis and Tom Lawrence are currently out injured.

Beale could soon be able to field a team consisting entirely of midfielders but The Scotsman has another £6m star on their way to Ibrox:

According to reports in the player’s homeland, the Ibrox side plan to scout the 24-year-old in upcoming games with a view to putting in a transfer bid to bring the player to Glasgow at the end of the season. Olaru is a valuable member of the Romanian giants and highly thought of.

The club’s owner Gigi Becali values the box-to-box midfielder between €6million and €8million although it is reported Rangers would be only willing to pay the lower scale of that value. Described as “a player who is physically and mentally involved, both defends and attacks, also has physical strength, Olaru has played more than 230 senior games with nine caps for Romania.

ProSport reports Rangers have “intensified their interest” and outline the club’s plan to watch him in play-off matches when the Romanian Superliga splits.

The Scotsman has still to report on the £1m emergency share issue at the end of January.

After being hooked following 45 minutes against Partick Thistle it is unlikely that there will be any transfer tales coming out of the Hagi Media Centre in Bucharest in the coming weeks.

Are they copying Celtic, is this to keep the angry fans from crying getting players in early like Celtic do.

No this is only to make the cretinous hordes THINK they’re copying us by doing the work early. The reality is that they won’t be able to afford any £6m player for many years to come but they can’t admit that lest the horde riot. Again.
