The British Broadcasting Corporation is in crisis south of the border but the loyal servants in the Glasgow branch office are treating it as business as usual.

Just before 5pm on Friday the BBC announced that Gary Lineker wouldn’t be presenting Match of the Day.

The decision, in response to fierce criticism of the former England striker from the Daily Mail and Daily Express has prompted an incredible backlash against the state broadcaster.

Soon after the Lineker announcement Ian Wright and Alan Shearer tweeted that they wouldn’t be appearing on MotD with Micah Richards and Alex Scott, who weren’t due on tonight’s show tweeting their support of those decisions.

Late on Friday night BBC Commentators announced that they won’t be covering today’s EPL matches with the carnage continuing today.

MotD will be shown tonight as scheduled but as well as being without a presenter and pundits there will be no post match player interviews.

Football Focus, the lunchtime show from the state broadcaster has now been pulled but north of the border loyal and true Kenny Macintyre will be presenting Sportsound as normal with Steven dishwater Thompson on duty for Sportscene this evening.

Tom English will be on duty at tomorrow’s egg chasing event in Morningside, with no commercial interest in the veteran broadcaster he knows his appeal is strictly limited as plunging sales of The Scotsman demonstrated.

The BBC is funded entirely through licence fees, a search online explains how to cancel and opt out of the £13 a month charge.

The BBC showing its true colours by kowtowing to the Tory loving right wing press. I don’t watch the BBC. Defund and disband it ASAP. As for BBC Sevco I wouldn’t expect anything else. Toe the line at all times.

In Scotland, non-payment of the license fee is not a criminal offence. Their collection office in Darlington will threaten you with all sorts, such as visits from mythical license enforcers. Oh aye, and fines. It is going on 6 years since I stopped paying. The letters from Darlington are now few and far between.

      Hail Hail.
