Dermot Gallagher has praised Steven McLean over the two bookings that led to the sending off of Elie Youan against Celtic on Saturday.
The Hibs forward was booked in the 19th minute for a late challenge on Carl Starfelt, five minutes later he picked up the same punishment as he connected with Cameron Carter-Vickers head as the two men tussled for the ball.
Hibs were furious with the second yellow with boss Lee Johnson booked later on in the first half and unhappy about a number of decisions.
Carter-Vickers had lowered his head but Youan still had his boot at a high level when he made contact, leaving his team-mates to battle for over an hour with 10 men.

This is a strange situation because [Cameron] Carter-Vickers goes to head the ball. He will say high boot. Is he entitled to put his boot that high? Some will say Carter-Vickers is leaning down but how high does a boot have to be?
And don’t forget it wasn’t a red card, it was a second yellow. The referee said no, he said it is a high boot. That’s the difference. You need to block out that it was a red card. It was a second yellow card. So it was a reckless challenge rather than a dangerous challenge.
Gallagher agreed that both penalties were correctly awarded.
It seems that there were contentious issues in every match in the SPFL Premiership over the weekend with VAR adding to the problems.
With no fixtures this weekend the SFA get a little breathing space but with high stakes in the remaining fixtures it is hard to see the situation improving with Dundee United and Kilmarnock expressing their concerns over the weekend.

Nobody seems to mention the cheating from the hibs bench when they threw another ball on the park to stop the play?
I think part of the problem is that teams are that used to getting away with almost anything at Parkhead that when marginal decisions go against the rage is uncontrolled………………. and that’s just the media.
I thought the second yellow was a “gave the referee a decision to make” category.
Having said that, how the referee can go from waving play on when a player has had a kick to the head is beyond me.
A new ploy from visiting teams now is when they do manage to get the ball into our box and it is cleared then one of their players goes down.
This allows VAR to pour over the footage looking for an infringement.
That is the second time this season that Hibs have got a penalty at Parkhead that the referee hasn’t seen and no one has claimed for.
A. Walker is as weak as water! But where is he and for that matter the Celtic Board on the dangerous tackles on our goalie?
Stephen Fletcher, Dundee United and J. hill of Hearts have both gone for 50/50 balls against Joe Hart when there is no way the knew they would get to the ball before Hart.
In both cases, Hart was very vulnerable to their big dirty studded, prodded boots and in both cases he was making the save on the deck!
That’s a dirty filthy tackle in both cases and that should be pointed out to the two players. That nothing was done in either case is a further indication of the incompetency of our Officials!
Where are the Celtic plc Board on this? Inconspicuous by their absence, as usual. Is it going to take a serious issue to our goalie before they will raise a question on this?
It is reckless and intimidating to make a tackle of that specific nature.
So maybe the people who should be raising the issue should start earning their pay!
As much as I hate Sevco -and I do with a passion, their board sticks by them Remember the Willie Collum case as a case in point ?
They wrote a letter about his refereeing and lo
and behold he didn’t referee them for a good while We have had decisions against us practically every week it seems
Looks like our Board need to actually do something or are they waiting for one of our players to be taken right out the game ?
