It seems that the James Tavernier comments used by Scottish newspapers overnight have caused some concern inside Ibrox. Whether that was with the club or player is unclear.

Across the board the Ibrox skipper was quoted as warning Celtic that the ‘real Rangers’ will be turning up at the remaining derby fixtures starting off with the visit to Celtic Park on April 8.

Having gone down so meekly in the final of the Viaplay Cup last month it is a bit early to start shouting the odds about a game that won’t be played for three weeks.

Tavernier was speaking at Fir Park on Saturday with the daily papers given access to hold back for their Monday edition.

There isn’t much of a discrepancy between the comments used and the version put out by the Rangers Review which is part of the Newsquest Group that includes the Herald and Evening/Glasgow Times.

Rangers Review is very much on message with access to the main figures beind the scenes at Ibrox with the assurance that their targeted message is exactly what is published.

Has someone not told him this is being played in April (but not on 1 April) and so it’s not a Halloween fixture, where the dead return from their graves? Might also be worth letting him know it’s a football match, not a fucking seance!
