On Saturday he started off alongside Stuart Armstrong and Ryan Jack, tonight he completed the match in the company of Kenny McLean and Lewis Ferguson.
Out of all the midfielders that Steve Clarke can call upon there is no-one that he trusts more than Callum McGregor. Over the course of three and a half days the Celtic skipper played every minute of the wins over Cyprus and Spain.
Whatever the opposition, whatever his options Clarke knows that McGregor is the constant presence on the park, the one player that he can rely on.
Scot McTominay scored four goals over the two matches, others came in and performed the tasks required, holding it all together was the captain of Celtic.
For some it is just too much to cope with. The type that thought Jason Holt/Joey Barton/Greg Docherty and Ryan Jack were the men to put Scott Brown out on his backside, they tried and failed.
McGregor is by some distance the best Scottish player currently playing, those that can’t come to terms with that only expose their own stupidity by slagging off the captain of the SPFL champions.
Callum McGregor has easily been the worst player on the park
