Transfer guru Ross Wilson has made a sharp exit from Ibrox with no mention of who will replace him, even on a temporary basis.

Twenty-four hours after The Athletic broke the news of interest from Nottingham Forest Wilson has moved to the English side leaving the plans for Micky Beale’s summer transfer dealings up in the air.

In a brief statement tonight from the club there is a heavy emphasis on Murray Park developments and the achievements of the Ladies team, behind him Wilson leaves a squad in turmoil consisting of seven first teamers about to finish their contracts alongside expensive misfits from a year of disastrous transfer activities.

In the statement from the club newly appointed chairman John Bennett said:

I would like sincerely to thank Ross for his enormous contribution to the development of Rangers both on and off the pitch.

While we have enjoyed silverware and excellent European progress during his time, his legacy will be the development of the Rangers Training Centre into a top-class environment, and the integration and success of our women’s programme

It seems like while he was planning the Beale Revolution Wilson was also working on his own exit.

Just like Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa it is unlikely that Wilson will return to Ibrox to raid for players.

Normally such a statement would mention someone stepping into Wilson’s job on a temporary basis until the position is filled, it looks like the club will make the the post of Sporting Director redundant.

I’d also like to thank Ross Wilson. As, I’m sure, would most Celtic fans, having watched him p155 away millions last summer on legends like Yilmaz, Matondo, Davies, etc while extending the contracts of Dad’s Army Davis, Hagi, Captain Tom McGregor and Scott Arfield. Special mention also has to go to him for signing assist king Soapy Sicknote Souttar, who came off his deathbed to provide Jota with the crucial third goal at the weekend, and his treatment room buddy, Lawrence. Between them I think their appearances are still barely into double figures. Loan deals for penalty supremo Rambo Ramsey and Amad Diallo, that £40 gazillion, Messi 2.0, wonderkid from Man Utd (now playing at the dizzying heights of mid-table Championship club, Sunderland), were also among Wilson’s masterstrokes.
