It seems like there is a new Sheriff in town, taking over from the fearsome stare of big John Lundstram.
A year ago the former Sheffield United star was bossing it all over Europe, every match thousands would sing about the best of earth.
Reality soon returned, big John got the runaround at the start of this season, his Champions League showings were an act of cruelty.
Once Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked finding a new enforcer was a priority for Micky Beale even though he had been part of the management team that had initially signed Lundstram.
Nico Raskin fitted the bill. Young, over-hyped and unknown was a good package to sell to the bears who had raved about Ridvan Yilmaz in similar circumstances last summer.
When the Belgian starlet was left on the bench watching Lundstram and Glen Kamara in the Viaplay Cup Final in February Ibrox fans went into meltdown. Terrified Beale reacted by making Raskin and Todd Cantwell the first names on his team-sheet for the yesterday’s clash at Celtic Park.
Raskin was apparently outstanding, bossing it just like prime Lundstram.
There wasn’t a telling run, there was barely a forward move and no defence splitting pass that led to anything.
What there was was a first half flare up with Callum McGregor and a post match smile at gloating Celtic fans. That seems to have provided the Gullible & Deluded with hope that next season will be different. Again.
