Stewart Robertson is walking away from his role as Managing Director of the Ibrox Tribute Act.

After eight ineffectual years the former Motherwell director steps down on July 31, joining Douglas Park and Ross Wilson is escaping from the club.

Commercial wizard James Bisgrove will take over as CEO, over the last two years he set up the support role for Ange’s Homecoming Tour and the embarrassing Sportemon- Go sponsorship deal shortly before the Crypto firm went burst

Late this afternoon the club announced:

RANGERS Football Club can today announce Managing Director, Stewart Robertson, is to depart the club this summer, with the Chairman and Board delighted to appoint James Bisgrove as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Stewart Robertson will depart Rangers on July 31, 2023, having decided to explore new opportunities.

Stewart leaves with the best wishes and gratitude of the Chairman and Board for all he achieved in his time at Ibrox. James Bisgrove will transition from his current Director of Commercial and Marketing role, becoming Rangers CEO from July 31, 2023.

Micky Beale will be working alongside a completely new Executive team when he enters the summer transfer window knowing that he has to get a squad together that can reach the group stage of the Champions League and to topple Celtic.

Reaching the Champions League wasn’t enough to save Giovanni van Bronckhorst from the inevitable, defeat from Celtic on Sunday in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup would be followed by demands for a new manager in line with the other key positions at the 11-year-old Tribute Act.

Robertson is an accountant to trade, Bisgrove was the driving force behind the £8m New Edmiston House venture including entertainment 365 days per year as well as the My Gers fund-raiser.

Also on the CV of the new CEO is the disastrous Castore Sport kit deal and the commemorative print of the 7-1 home defeat from Liverpool.

Something coming down the Pike, Joe?

  • Seppington says:

New title for Bisgrove but will there be the concomitant wage rise? I very much doubt it, this will be the easiest, cheapest option for the kavalcade of kretinish klowns in the Ayebrokes boardroom…

    Didn’t see that coming!

Robertson is arguably the most significant departure?

He must have been micromanaging the cash on a daily basis – whilst dealing with all the nonsense swirling around him.

If he doesn’t have a better job to walk into, then you have to consider that the end game is near at sevco.

And Robertson doesn’t want to be there when it happens.

    Very interesting… 🙂
