At the end of January Ibrox fans were ecstatic as their club returned to a Player Trading Model with the signing of Nicolas Raskin.

At the end of February his status as the new messiah was sealed as he sat on the bench watching Celtic dominate the Viaplay Cup Final before getting sent on for the last half hour.

Apparently Raskin and Todd Cantwell then bossed it as they’d prove a few weeks later at Celtic Park when the real Rangers turn up.

Just over three months into his move some Ibrox fans are starting to look underneath the hype.

The 22-year-old seems to completely disappear in the second half of matches. On Sunday against Aberdeen he was substituted after 64 minutes, in his two previous matches he had lasted 74 and 63 minutes. Chelsea are unlikely to be impressed.

This isn’t Celtic style substitutions of planned replacements after opponents are worn down, Raskin could be replaced at half time without being noticed.

Rather than give players breathing space to settle the need for hype and spin for all things Ibrox is suffocating players the minute they put in a 6 out of 10 performance.

Everything said about Raskin was said about Malik Tillman earlier this season, a year ago about John Lundstram and previously for Glen Kamara.

Cantwell remains the great hope but when you are surrounded by Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala it isn’t difficult to stand out in that crowd.
