The Daily Record are running with a Forum story that Preston North End are close to signing Scott Wright.

Any deal is expected to be for an undisclosed fee with Micky Beale praising the winger as an outstanding person as well as a huge influence in winning two trophies in three seasons from a two horse race.

Wright was signed from Aberdeen in January 2021 in a deal that converted Ross McCrorie’s loan to Pittodrie into a permanent move. Bristol City are tipped to pay out £2m for McCrorie once the transfer window opens.

The Record reports:

Scott Wright is reportedly on the brink of joining Preston North End permanently.

Rangers announced their released list today but more exits are expected to follow.

Winger Wright is under contract but is yet to start under Michael Beale and is viewed as surplus to requirements.

Townend Talk say the 25-year-old is set for a permanent move to the Championship side.

This season Wright has started five SPFL matches and made 17 appearances off the bench, in Europe he started two games while adding five appearances as a substitute.

The former Aberdeen starlet was an 84th minute substitute against Celtic in the Viaplay Cup Final in February and got two minutes less when the hoops won 3-2 in the April SPFL Glasgow Derby.

500k for a seldom seen player is rather high risk, how do you scout a player who is not on the pitch ??
