Nick Walsh will referee Celtic’s potential title clincher at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Back in October the Bearsden based PE teacher was in charge of the first televised VAR fixture at Tynecastle, awarding two penalties to Hearts while denying Celtic a penalty with a very obvious handball by Michael Smith from a James Forrest pass.

Walsh has handled two Glasgow derbies this season including the Viaplay Cup Final and appears to be the number one in the eyes of the SFA.

Willie Collum who pulled up injured before last Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final will be on VAR duty.

With John Beaton in charge of Aberdeen’s visit to Ibrox tomorrow the SFA look to be in a bit of a spot over who will referee the final Glasgow Derby with convention being that the same referee very rarely is in charge of the same teams in successive matches.

Don Robertson got pulled in at the last minute for the Hampden match with Kevin Clancy heavily criticised and threatened after handling the Celtic Park Derby on April 8.

Another new official could get the Ibrox clash or the SFA could turn the clock back to 2016 and put Steven McLean in charge of his first Derby in over six years.
