Ben Davies is the latest Ibrox star being touted for a summer exit.

The defender was branded a ‘Liverpool star’ when he moved to Ibrox last summer in a £4m deal despite never playing a minute of competitive football under Jurgen Klopp.

Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon missed out on signing Davies from Preston in January 2021 but after a brief spell at Anfield he was sent on loan to Sheffield United seven months later.

After 21 uninspiring appearances in The Championship the Blades decided against making a permanent move and have been rewarded with promotion back to the EPL.

Davies arrived at Ibrox with fitness issues but since the turn of the year has been the regular central defensive partner for Connor Goldson.

After being signed by Ross Wilson and Giovanni van Bronckhorst it seems that Micky Beale has no need for Davies with The Sun reporting:

SunSport revealed Gers will listen to offers for striker Antonio Colak. Ben Davies, signed from Liverpool last summer, is being eyed up by several Championship clubs.

That line came from Andy Devlin who is well connected inside Ibrox.

Colak and Davies cost between £6-7m last summer with the defender unlikely to have taken a pay cut on his Anfield terms.

With a contract running until May 2026 there won’t be many Championship clubs prepared to match those wages and pay a transfer fee.

With a purge going on over the signings made last summer stories about Ridvan Yilmaz and Rabbie Matondo are likely to surface soon.
