After a six year absence from refereeing the Glasgow Derby Steven McLean will be in charge of Saturday’s match at Ibrox.

At one stage he was viewed as the golden boy of the refereeing circuit, taking charge of the 2016 Scottish Cup Final won by Hibs then refereeing Celtic’s December victory at Ibrox with Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair doing the damage.

Strangely McLean’s career seemed to stall but with a lack of emerging referees the SFA have turned the clock back for the sixth Glasgow Derby of the season.

Don Robertson was a late call up for last month’s Scottish Cup semi-final, Kevin Clancy was heavily criticised for his performance in the last SPFL match between the clubs. At the weekend Nick Walsh and John Beaton were given matches involving the competing clubs.

Greg Aitken from Kilmarnock will be on VAR duty with Robertson the Fourth Official- if McLean gets injured in the warm up Robertson will find himself called up again for the second time within three weeks.
