When you make your Celtic debut at Ibrox two days after your registration is transferred through you sort of expect the unexpected.

Four months after that memorable debut Alastair Johnston found himself in another pressurised situation following Celtic’s title clincher away to Hearts.

The injured defender didn’t travel with his team-mates to Tynecastle, any hopes of slipping back into Celtic Park unnoticed hit the buffers alongside the traffic and throng of supporters on London Road.

From the moment that the final whistle blew at Tynecastle thousands of fans headed towards Celtic Park to welcome back the champions.

A select band of 1,200 Celtic fans were at the match but thousands more were in place along The Celtic Way and London Road to recognise and celebrate Scotland’s most successful club.

Johnston was injured in last week’s Scottish Cup semi-final win at Hampden but still has hopes of being available for the final against Inverness Caley Thistle on June 3.
