Back in February Ally McCoist offered to drive Ange Postecoglou to Glasgow Airport when the Celtic boss joined the Cheeky Chappie in the Viaplay Sports studio at Hampden.

The banter was hilarious as McCoist put on a brave face with the manager that had been destroying his dreams from the moment be laughed his way through Postecoglou’s appointment with his mate Alan Brazil.

That afternoon Celtic had retained the League Cup, dismissing Micky Beale’s mob with something to spare as they claimed the first leg of the treble.

If only Postecoglou would leave Celtic it would pave the way for Ibrox trophy parties. After the hoops completed the domestic treble that dream turned to reality when Spurs came calling.

Suddenly the Close Season Cup was in the Blue Room, happy bears filled the airwaves with some suggesting that the Micky Beale Revolution had played a part in the departure of Postecoglou!

With a rookie or project manager in place at Celtic the prospect of Beale making a clean sweep of honours was looking realistic with Jack Butland the latest free agent to join the Revolution.

Over the weekend attention at Celtic switched from Enzo Maresca to Brendan Rodgers- the manager that destroyed the Warburton and Caixinha Revolutions, teeing up the Treble Treble.

The prospect of Rodgers returning with something extra to prove isn’t a pleasant one for McCoist and the army of Ibrox friendly pundits.

Rather than being pitched up against a fellow rookie Beale could be up against his ultimate boss from Liverpool although Rodgers is unlikely to recall much about the bibs and cones guy for the Anfield u-8 squad.

Tuning in to McCoist on TalkSPORT this morning the Daily Record reports:

McCoist is under no doubt Rodgers remains a top operator, however, he believes the former Foxes boss will be asking himself if a return to Glasgow’s east end is the right call after the circumstances which followed his previous exit. Speaking to talkSPORT, the Ibrox hero said: “He’d be brilliant. I think Brendan is a great coach. The only thing I would say is there is a good section of the Celtic support who weren’t happy when he left and they think the manner he left in wasn’t acceptable.

“I would think that would come into Brendan Rodgers’ thoughts, I don’t care what anybody says, it would come into Brendan’s thoughts.

If McCoist was paying attention he would know that most Celtic fans have mellowed greatly in their attitude to Rodgers.

Bringing in a proven winner to do to Beale what Postecoglou started is a glorious prospect, with McCoist ringside reassuring Ibrox fans that this time next year James Tavernier will be Scottish football’s prize guy.

Charlie Nicholas and Keith Jackson also share their ‘concerns’ for Rodgers returning to the hostility of managing Celtic.

The Dobbies regular need not fret as Mr Bealiola isn’t in the least bit concerned as to whom the next trophy hoovering manager of Celtic FC is…

Remember he has the largest transfer budget of any manager to represent the Rangers FC club’s.

The CFC manager search must be a highly welcomed distraction at Ibrox,

as they rummage around the European bargain bins for players.

There is nothing to suggest that Beale will provide a stronger challenge next season:

    quite the opposite, in fact.

The biggest threat – domestically – to CFC remains complacency.

Brendan coped just fine with the goldfish bowl last time. He was a towering presence over Scottish football and the coaching staff of every club bar one hung on his every word, as you would expect for a former manager of Liverpool operating in the SPFL.

Why not re-sign Dembele too – a free agent currently? Then we really would boost the share price for Pampers and Andrew based solely on sales in the Govan area…..

    • Captain Swing says:

      *AndreX not ‘Andrew’, FFS. Spellcheck.

The sheer brass neck of this imposter is really something he walked away leaving behind a shambles while a fortune continued to be paid into his bank account. If only celtic had went for the jugular in the second half of that semi final .

    • Seppington says:

Didn’t Dembele leave BECAUSE of Rodgers?
