Lecce are the latest club to feature in Ianis Hagi Transfer Bingo.

Every two months a story emerges from Romania around some fanciful interest in the midfielder and is quickly picked up and relayed by the Scottish media.

Galatasaray are regularly mentioned with the Ibrox star born in Istanbul while his Dad played for Gala with fleeting references made to Manchester City, Spurs and Real Madrid.

After being out of action for more than a year through injury Hagi Jr started a couple of dead-rubbers towards the end of last season but is facing serious competition for a place at Ibrox with Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin the new wonder-boys.

Recovering the £3m fee paid to Genk in the summer of 2020 would be a result for the Ibrox money-men with the Daily Record keen to talk up interest in Micky Beale’s deadwood:

It has been claimed Rangers would be willing to listen to offers for Hagi, signed from Belgian side Genk under Steven Gerrard, and now reports in Italy say Lecce are keen on the player. The Serie A side’s technical director Pantaleo Corvino was general manager at Fiorentina when Hagi had two years there. And he is keen to be reunited with the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe.

Hagi made two appearances totalling 48 minutes for Fiorentina before returning to his Daddy’s team, FC Viitorul for an undisclosed fee.

Apart from a token fee for Mateusz Zukowsk no funds have been raised towards boosting Beale’s transfer warchest with stars like Borna Barisic, John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe now into the final 12 months of their Ibrox contracts.

  • Captain Swing says:

Is it wrong of me to be looking forward to Gheorge’s incandescent diatribe against iBrox, Beale, Gerrard and that nice Mr Gio when they inevitably cut him loose?

  • Robert Jenkins says:

Sevco are probably waiting for the £30 million bid from Al Hilal or Al Ahli.

  • Scud Missile says:

Man City will say they will take him onloan for the season with the option of first dibs to sign him at the end if it.
Then sevco can call him back cut out Man City from the deal but still pick up compensation from City for them not taking the option up,well some kind of S**T like that.
