It seems that constant rounds of media work is catching up on Kenny Miller.

Appearances on Sky Sports, Go Radio, Radio Scotland and Radio Clyde fill his diary between thought provoking views in the Daily Record/Sunday Mail.

As ever everything in the Ibrox garden is rosy, Michael Beale has been looking into various sets of eyes to ensure that James Tavernier doesn’t go through another trophyless season.

With the goals of Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield and Malik Tillman walking away the rookie boss has turned to Sam Lammers and Abdallah Sima to come up with the goals to get the Tribute Act among the trophies.

The newcomers managed six league goals last season as they guided Sampdoria and Angers to relegation but rather than produce red flags that just means that both men are something to prove at their new club.

Miller told Daily Record readers:

When we re-signed Kris Boyd from Kilmarnock in my day, he was the all-time top Premiership scorer, so it was a no-brainer. You KNEW he’d get goals.

Even now, if you were bringing in Lawrence Shankland from Hearts, you could say quite confidently that he’d score 20 goals. But with guys coming from different leagues, at different stages of their careers, there is more risk.

Sima and Lammers have come off the back of poor seasons at relegated clubs. So you can’t say with any great belief that they’ll hit it off. There are question marks. And only the players themselves can answer them. Scottish boys, like Boyd or Shankland, would also know all about going to Kilmarnock on the opening day. The pressure involved, the necessity to win, how you can’t slip up.

Boyd left Kilmarnock in the summer of 2014 to team up with Miller under Ally McCoist and absolutely bombed in the Championship.

McCoist walked away before Christmas, Kenny McDowall did the same with Stuart McCall seeing the season out with a 6-1 aggregate defeat to Motherwell in the Play Off.

As the Soccerbase table below shows Boyd produced the sort of scoring stats inline with Ryan Kent but without the stepovers.

Boyd’s Championship goals were two against Raith Rovers plus one against Dumbarton.

He’s wanting a contingent of Scottish ‘Sevco minded’ players in the team – It probably does help a club like them and I’d say Celtic need a Scottish contingent also in our team…

Not sure who Shankland supports and if he’d do for The Hoops in Europe but he certainly does know the way to goal in The SPFL and is good at penalties so in that regard he would be a perfect fit at Sevco and a good second in command for Tav Pen –
