The Daily Record has claimed that Jota is due a £10,000 a week pay rise if Celtic turn down an offer of over £25m for his transfer.

Exactly a year ago the winger signed a five year contract after a highly successful spell on loan from Benfica.

Jota followed that up with a key role in Celtic’s treble success but is now subject to interest from Saudi Arabia where it is being reported he can pick up a tax free salary of £10m a year.

Negotiations are believed to be going on between Celtic and Al Ittihad, late on Sunday the Daily Record reported:

Record Sport understands Jota has a clause in his Hoops contract that will automatically trigger a hike in wages from £35k to £45k per week if the club rejects a bid of at least £25m. Celtic are looking to bank even more for the sale – and smash the Scottish record set by Kieran Tierney’s £25m move to Arsenal in 2019.

Modern contracts can easily run to 30 or 40 pages with numerous clauses mainly based on performances.

Very few people will know the precise details of a contract but with Celtic restarting training on Monday things will become a little clearer if Jota reports to Lennoxtown.

With the personal terms on offer it is difficult to see a deal not going through but with four years left on the player’s contract Celtic can to an extent dig in to secure the best possible deal.

Celtic as a business will not turn down £25M, therefore the premise of the article is pointless.

Record Sport Understands = Lies, Fabrication, Fiction, Fairy Stories, Anti Celtic articles, Negative Hoops tales, Pro Sevco jargon…

Do NOT believe a single word from that shameless crowd of charlatans –

Better for Hoops fans to find out their Pish Pot Jerker on forums like this than support them financially through purchase or online clicks…

Let’s finish them off sooner rather than later !

If jota goes to Saudi Arabia then he will not get a look in, with the Portugal, they will be looking at him and as he has played at every level with Portugal I think he will have an eye on the next big international and will want to get picked for his country, so I don’t think he will go to Saudi

  • Davie says:

Jota move to Saudi is imminent, the lad gers more money, plays in a warmer climate, won’t have the goldfish bowl animosity of Glasgow to contend with.
All in its a great deal for Jota & Celtic.
He has done his bit for the club and leaves as a well thought of Celtic man.
So drop all the theories and post mortem, just wish him well.
