Ajax are close to recovering most of the 23m euros that they wasted on Calvin Bassey with Fulham about to sign the former Ibrox superstar.

On the back of a three month run towards the end of the 21/22 season without a major error the Scottish media whipped up a frenzy around Bassey with Ajax falling for the hype with disastrous consequences.

After being sent off on his debut, the Super Cup defeat from PSV Eindhoven, things went downhill fast for the defender as he discovered the Laws of the Game applied by non-Scottish match officials.

Former Ajax players were amazed that their club had signed a player with so little ability- in the Champions League Ajax lost 6-1 at home to Napoli then accepted a face saving 4-2 defeat away to the Italians who never got out of third gear.

In January coach Alfred Schreuder was sacked after seven matches without a win in the Eredivisie, before the end of the season Edwin van der Saar resigned as CEO as a consequence of finishing third with the door to the Champions League closed.

New coach Maurice Steijn was blunt as he told De Telegraaf why the club was ditching the Ibrox flop:

He had a very tough year last season. Everyone gets a second chance and if he does better than anyone else he will play. But chances are – especially if we get a new left back or left central defender – he won’t play.

Southampton have been unable to find a club prepared to sign Joe Aribo, a £6m signing from Ibrox last summer.

    Absolute dumpling

Ajax got robbed aided and abetted by the Scottish sports media / hun PR machine

Apparently Fulham are willing to pay £18M for Bassey.
That is quite a gamble based on his history with his last Club.
What would you base that sum on? I’d get him to prove that he can kick a ball before parting with that kind of dough!

Ibrokes failed attempt to emulate Celtic has crashed & burned with Aribo & Bassey. Who on earth would ever look to buy a player from them after these impotent purchases. Financially we are on a different planet but its a waste if we don’t drive the stake into their heart & push on in Europe!

  • the maister says:

Mind you. Sign him on a long term deal and they might just make a player out of him!
And then sell him on, perhaps?

Sometimes reality is to real to face.
    Sevco cannot countenance reality.
Penny, penny, tanner Bob, the instalment offer that is made. If not accepted try again with a Guinea and a florin add on.

Believe it or not,l actually emailed Ajax telling them to be really sure about what they were proposing in signing this joker.
Not that l actually like them as a club, more that l hate the huns more and something had to give.
You just can’t cure stupid .
    Fuck them !!!

After Bassey, Aribo & Patterson ibrox is a club of no confidence regarding further sales, add on the Kent & Morelos freebies you will see how the clubs players have become untouchable.
New season will see if their Gumtree signings are any good.
Only in competitive matches can you see a players ability.
