Three days after their flight to Germany it has been confirmed that Dujon Sterling isn’t part of Micky Beale’s squad.

After a season long loan at Stoke City the defender was reunited with his former Chelsea Academy coach who had been tracking his progress since departing Stamford Bridge in 2012.

There has been plenty of in-house social media content coming out of the German Murray Park with fans drooling over a training ground goal from Sam Lammers but less impressed with Kemar Roofe scoring from close range.

Piecing the clips together there has been no sign of Sterling, this afternoon The Sun revealed:

NEW Rangers star Dujon Sterling has NOT travelled to Germany for the club’s training camp. SunSport Online can reveal the 23 year-old ex-Chelsea kid has picked up a calf injury.

The issue is NOT deemed serious by the club’s medical staff. However, it was decided Sterling would be better staying in Scotland to undergo treatment rather than travel with the squad.

It’s a blow to Sterling who was hoping to make a good impression with boss Michael Beale. But it’s only regarded as a slight set-back.

It seems to be significant enough to have ruled Sterling out of a trip to Germany to work on his rehab while getting to know his new team mates. Fellow crocks Goldson and Tom Lawrence are with their team-mates in Germany.

The ‘former Chelsea’ star is the only defender that Beale has signed despite concerns over Conor Goldson who is expected to miss the start of the season.

As it stands the rookie Ibrox boss will be forced to select two from John Souttar, Ben Davies and Leon King for the Champions League qualifiers on August 8/9 and 15.

Last night The Sun reported that there will be no more signings until Beale shifts three players from the pay roll.

Sterling work [not] there by the Sporting Director / Rookie Manager, Beale? 🙂

In his 6 years in the senior squad, Dujon never played 1 game for Chelsea.

However, he was loaned out FOUR times to clubs in the Championship & League 1.

It would seem that none of these lower league clubs were keen to offer him

    a permanent deal?

Released this summer by Chelsea on a free.

…so on what basis did Beale feel justified in giving Dujon a reported 4 year deal?

I’m not a Sporting Director either, but Dujon could/should have been brought in on

    a much shorter deal…?
