Celtic are reported to have ‘launched a £3.5m move’ to sign Luis Palma.

The claim comes from the reporter with the most accurate track record on Celtic transfer business- Stephen McGowan.

With a week to go in the transfer window there are real concerns among supporters that the club is going to come out of the window much weaker than they were in June when they clinched the domestic treble.

Jota, Carl Starfelt and Aaron Mooy have all left with recent speculation hinting that Reo Hatate is unhappy with his current contract.

Four project signings have arrived plus Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke to boost the centre of defence but elsewhere Brendan Rodgers has been left light on options.

Late on Wednesday night, writing in the Daily Mail, McGowan reported:

CELTIC have launched a £3.5million move for coveted Aris Thessaloniki winger Luis Palma.

A Honduran international, the 23-year-old has been heavily linked with rivals Rangers as a replacement for Ryan Kent.

After 16 goals for his current club in Greece, Palma has also attracted strong interest from a number of clubs across Europe, including Watford and Anderlecht.

As a goalscoring left winger Palma looks like a replacement for Jota who moved to Al Ittihad at the start of July but now appears available as a free agent.

Celtic would need to move quickly to get Palma or anyone else signed up before Saturday’s match at home to St Johnstone- otherwise they’d be looking at a debut at Ibrox on September 3.
