John Kennedy has revealed that he is still in touch with Ange Postecoglou as he attempts his Spurs rebuild.

After two years together Celtic’s treble winning management team split up at the start of June with the return of Brendan Rodgers convincing Kennedy to remain at Celtic rather than shift to North London.

Taking his former Celtic assistant to Spurs would have been the ideal scenario for the Australian but it hasn’t soured the relationship between the two men.

Kennedy has a wealth of contacts and experience across the game in the UK, when Rodgers left for Leicester they retained contact rather than drifting apart.

Explaining his current relationship with Postecoglou, Kennedy told Football Scotland:

I had a really good relationship with him in terms of him coming in. I got to know him very quickly and we had a fantastic relationship, we really did. I learned a lot from him.

He’s very different to Brendan and he’s very successful in the way he does that, he’s a very humble guy. I’ve got a really good relationship with him.

I’ve kept in touch and I’ve spoken to him through pre-season to see how things are going at both ends and I’m pretty sure he’ll do a fantastic job down there because he’s a terrific manager, he knows what he wants and I’m pretty sure the Spurs fans will learn very quickly how he likes to operate and they’ll see a different team down there.

Postecoglou certainly has his work cut out at Spurs with the issue of Harry Kane unresolved 11 days before the start of the season.

The England skipper hasn’t signed a new contract with Bayern Munich appearing increasingly confident of luring Kane to the Bundesliga.

Either way Postecoglou could do with some certainty but with Brentford away and Manchester United at home coming up he has to get Spurs into shape for a very demanding start to the season.
