Rodgers gives injury update on key duo

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate will both be missing from the Celtic side that faces Kilmarnock on Sunday.

The former Spurs defender was replaced by Stephen Welsh at half time last week against Aberdeen while Hatate also went on at half-time but was himself replaced by Odin Thiago Holm midway through the second half.

With a hamstring issue (Carter-Vickers) and calf problem (Hatate) no chances will be taken on the plastic pitch at Kilmarnock.

The bigger worry for Celtic fans comes in two weeks time when Rodgers takes his side to Ibrox for the first derby match of the season.

Already without Jota, Aaron Mooy and Carl Starfelt if Hatate and or Carter/Vickers are missing it would be a serious loss of experience for the toughest domestic fixture of the season.

Next Saturday Celtic are at home to St Johnstone, if they fail to make it for that match there will be concerns that they will also miss Ibrox which is followed by an international break then a home game with Dundee on September 16.

I hope we don’t get caught cold with the board dragging their feet (as usual) in the transfer market. Lagerbielke forced to play having only signed a couple of days ago. Why wasnt he signed weeks ago to be properly integrated with the squad, he hardly cost a fortune.

Brendan will find that nothing has changed from his last stint in charge. Especially with Lawwell back in the driving seat.
