Two weeks ago Alan Muir was a picture of delight as he congratulated Derek McInnes on beating Celtic, or was it the other way around?

Warm, fraternal handshakes all round as Celtic lost 1-0 with Muir turning in the sort of display that the media in any other country would be questioning.

Daniel Armstrong got away with smashing his elbow into Greg Taylor’s head without any punishment, while the Celtic defender was off the park getting treatment Kilmarnock scored the only goal of the game, justified by a squinty VAR line produced by Don Robertson.

In stoppage time Lewis Mayo felled Sead Haksabanovic in the penalty box, in record time VAR decided that there was no penalty.

After a seven year break Steven McLean was back on the rota for the final Glasgow Derby of the season with Micky Beale claiming the Dead Rubber Trophy in a 3-0 win.

Today the brother of former Murray Park starlet Brian was on the touchline as Fourth official, often a pointer to who will referee the next Glasgow Derby.

After seven minutes of stoppage time Steven was right next to the two managers as they shook hands, it’s doubtful if Micky Beale was any more distressed than the man from the SFA.

Will Micky Beale still be manager at Ibrox on Christmas Day?

Yes, he is the Brains Behind Gerrard, don't underestimate him

Aren’t they all supposed to have serious faces on to supposedly show their ‘neutrality’ but Muir’s mask slipped down badly at Kilmarnock with his handshake and laugh a minute post result celebration with McInnes…

That said I thank him for doing his job honestly yesterday as I suppose others would not have done –

But if he’d let that go after Kilmarnock then it might’ve even been a step too far for our yellow men in grey suits !
