Have BBC Scotland put Tom English on mute?

Despite his grand title as Chief Sport Writer at BBC Scotland, Tom English hasn’t shared a single thought on this week’s European results for Scottish football clubs.

It seems that egg-chasing duties at the World Cup in France have totally occupied his thoughts- or he has been told to keep a lid on his glee at any misfortune for Celtic.

Since Celtic won 1-0 at Ibrox on September 3 there has been soccer silence from English which might be an attempt by BBC Scotland to regain access to Celtic.

Back in July the star man at the state broadcaster couldn’t hold back as Ange Postecoglou moved to Spurs, a job that Brendan Rodgers was apparently raging at missing out on.

Nothing was said or done at the time but as Celtic started their media conferences there was no invite sent out to BBC Scotland. Sky Sports, STV, Radio Clyde and others were on the list but not the company that employs English as their Chief Sports Writer.

English has had a mammoth 13 days between Scotland getting hammered by South Africa and today’s match against Tongo but not a word has been published on his soccer thoughts.

Celtic’s defeat to Feyenoord would certainly have raised a few cheers as he feasted on BBC expenses out on France but he couldn’t even tweet about that result.

Twitter is strictly about rugby these days, perhaps a final warning has been issued since his crass comments about Shane Warren.

With a complete absence of football contacts outwith Gorgie Road English has never been near a decent football story, wisely he has tried to become a character in order to justify his BBC Scotland status.

Stirring things up on Twitter as worked a treat, he revels in the notoriety but with his bosses reigning him in he’ll just have to stick to egg chasing until he learns to control his emotions.

I’m baffled by this one ! Tom English , chief sports scoop at BBC Scawlin’ ? When was the last time English fronted a sports news item on TV ? It’s either Chris MC Laughlin or somebody else who is on camera to wax lyrical about the Rangers or some other insignificant story not with the Rangers in the title . Is English not photogenic enough for his publicly funded bosses ? Do they prefer he has the ideal face for radio ? You would think that the chief scoop’s boat would be all over TV and all other forms of modern technologies? Whoever heard of a person working in TV and in broadcasting as a highly paid journalist being VERY camera shy ? I mean these modern filters do wonders for the little or big imperfections , nowadays ……

On a SPONSORED SILENCE,I bet you he is itching to have a go at us,but possibilities in the background he is one bad tweet away from his P45.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Keep him silenced and shut up then – Given the tripe he trots out as reported on here goes…

It won’t last though for if BBC Scotland know that he annoys Celtic and it’s supporters (and they do) then he’ll be back to spouting his usual pish pot jerker faster than a bolt of lightning !

The Stab City Soup Taker always putting the boot into Celtic FC, the clubs ethos, its history and more importantly its supporters at every given opportunity. I sincerely hope that you’re right Scud and he is one tweet away from the sack. I long since to stopped listening to BBC Sevco, in fact BBC anywhere, as the pro Sevco agenda was so transparent. Recently heard him on the OTB podcast from the Republic of Ireland and he told the truth, I know its hard to fathom, but then again how many Sevconuts would have been listening. SPL he said had Celtic well out in front, Sevco next andcthe 10 other clubs all much of the same. He probably washed his mouth out with soap afterwards.
