Todd Cantwell has revealed how Micky Beale charmed him to move to Ibrox.

With his Norwich City contract running down and no interest from other English clubs the social media wizard wasn’t exactly swamped with offers.

Beale remembered Cantwell from his u-12 days starring for the young Canaries and saw the talent that had escaped every manager in the EPL and in The Championship.

Nine months later Beale was sacked and is planning to spend a few months in Brazil, Japan and the USA reminding himself that he is one of the most exciting young coaches in world football.

I met the manager in London and I was speaking to him and he was so passionate about football, about Rangers and passionate about me and I didn’t have that for a little while.

It was refreshing for me to have someone go, ‘do you know how good you are? Do you actually know how good you are? Because for some reason, you don’t seem to feel or know that you are that person. You are that person.

And you know, the money option is lingering around. But it was the football option and I thought, the way he sold Rangers to me is exactly what it is.

Exactly what he said to me it’s going to be, is exactly what it is. It’s beautiful but it’s a madness and if you enjoy the madness, you’ll be beautiful.

And it was like yeah, it’s the right thing to do. So I spoke to him and decided it was the right thing to do and yeah, I signed about two weeks after first contact.

For the first game of this season Cantwell was a substitute against Kilmarnock, the same position he had in February for the Viaplay Cup Final defeat from Celtic. At the time of signing the contract was described as a long term deal.
