Chris Jack has confirmed that fear of Celtic was the motivation to Philippe Clement being appointed manager at Ibrox.

The 49-year-old Belgian has won his native title three times and is expected to transfer that ability to Scotland where he has 30 matches to overcome a seven point deficit with two away matches due at each of the top five clubs.

It is a tall order in any circumstances, even more so with a squad laden with flops bought by the two previous managers, neither of whom stuck around to complete a full season.

Five Celtic Trebles in the last seven seasons has struck fear into the heart of Ibrox, after successfully selling the Survival Lie to their fans through the media they peddle the myth that they are the world’s most successful club.

Not many Real Madrid fans are jealous of the trophy haul of the club that died in 2012 but that delusion is key to keeping the bears handing over their cash season after season.

Last season’s Scottish Cup win took Celtic to 116 trophy wins, one more than the club currently in liquidation. Going on recent trends the hoops should surpass the combined trophy haul of both Ibrox clubs in the next season or two which is where Clement comes in with his cut price Revolution!

Jack of the Rangers Review is the most on-message reporter of the current crop, in a flowery summary of the task facing the new boss he explains:

Clement will naturally wish to embark on his own recruitment process and funds will be made available, where possible, for signings to be made. Rangers will continue to be run in a financially stable and sustainable way but there is an acknowledgement from the board and the investors that more players will have to come into the club just weeks after Beale was backed with around £13million to build a group in his name and his image.

Clement will now be given that same opportunity. It is a chance that too many have failed to make the most of in recent seasons and Rangers cannot afford to be back in this situation in another 12 months. If that is the case, their status as the ‘world’s most successful club’ will be well and truly under threat from across the city.

The League Cup offers Clement breathing space but with Brendan Rodgers imposing himself on the Celtic squad a hoops double of SPFL Premiership title and Scottish Cup looks very likely.

For the foaming bears, it must feel like deja vu – all over again!

    – a new manager brought in quickly

    – inheriting a squad of underperforming players

    – talks a good game

    – will receive the full ‘messiah’ treatment from the SMSM

    – will have to be given time [and a LC win will certainly help there]

    – he can’t really be rated until he has his own team / squad

    – so, the jury’s out on the manager until this time next year – again!

And the next challenge for the Blue Room is to secure additional funds

to pay for a new Sporting Director, to provide ‘some’ player budget in January,

    – and to pay off Beale. [Has GvB been fully paid up yet?]

ibrox hasn’t had a Share Issue for weeks now… 🙂

Who is Chris Jack of The Rangers Review ? – Another nutcase forum blogger I guess…

It’s not ‘their status’ as The worlds most successful club – It’s clearly that blogger Chris Jack’s…

As you’ve said we’ve overtaken The Late Rangers –

But to live the lie for a mo – Let’s do the averages…

    Celtic 1888 – 2023 (135 years) 116 trophies – Average = 0.859 (0.86) per season –

    Sevco + The Late Rangers 1872 – 2023 (151 years) 117 trophies – Average = 0.774 (0.77) per season –

So we are (0.09) trophies ahead of Sevco + The Late Rangers since our birth in 1888…

(PS – They are that thick that had they (The Late Rangers) kept their original birth year of 1873 their average would’ve shot up a wee bitty to (0.78) but still miles behind –

What a pity that I’m not so smart with ma own figure(s) as these ones – Ach well that’s the beer for ya) !

    STATS THE TRUTH NOW !!!!

ITK scoop messenger Chris Jack and the other the Rangers nodding dogs can warn and opine what the newest manager has to do in order to try catch Celtic till the cows come home if they so wish . It won’t make one bit of difference ! Their pro Ibrox words will not add a scintilla of help to anything . Why do these hacks think that their ‘advice’ will have any bearing on anything in Scottish football ? They don’t !I would not clean and buff up my windows with the tabloid rags which employ these sub standard glorified typists ! That’s the influence in full that they have on whatever .

  • the maister says:

He may, or may not, have studied the longetivity of the past few sevco managers and thought that he could beat the odds on winning!
But then, a handsome pay-off in the result of failure may have persuaded him too!
Belgian and French Clubs tend not to do well in European competition. So, winning the League in the former a few times and not doing so well in France may be quite telling!

    They’ve got funds ? Who’s kidding who ?
